A Spirometry test is a type of lung function test. It determines how well your lungs work by measuring how much air goes in to and out of your lungs when you breathe. A Spirometry test is used to diagnose lung and airway diseases, including:

  • Asthma
  • Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis

Spirometry can also:

  • Determine your lung capacity
  • Measure changes over time that occur as a result of chronic lung disease
  • Identify early changes in your lung function and help guide treatment
  • Detect narrowing of your airways
  • Assess how well your inhaled medication is working

Your doctor may order spirometry if you have the following symptoms:

  • Chest tightness, pain, or pressure
  • Coughing, especially with mucus
  • Difficulty taking a deep breath
  • Wheezing

All spirometry tests incur a $25.00 fee (less $10 if patient provides their own Spacer) plus a private consultation fee.
